Mother’s Day is the one day of the year when we honor our mom and mother figures in our life. They have made unlimited sacrifices, have given us unconditional love, and always stood by us no matter what. This is the day to show them how much they are appreciated and loved. We don’t always show them everyday how much they are loved. We often take them for granted and forget to say a simple “Thank You” when they do something for us which is probably daily. Whether it is cooking, cleaning, doing our laundry, or just listening to us. How many times have you asked her for advice? How many times have you said to her “I have a question” or “I have a problem?” How many times did she listen, help you, given you advice or helped you solve a problem? How many meals has she cooked for you? How many times has she taken care of you when you were sick? Has she supported you and stood up for you maybe even when you were in the wrong? Has she taught you life skills that you still use to this day? Maybe it is how to cook or bake, maybe it is how to drive, maybe it is how to do laundry, maybe it is how to study for a test, maybe it is how to be a good friend to someone or how to share what you have with someone who is less fortunate than you are. Did she help you raise your kids and teach you right from wrong so you could teach your own kids the same thing? We need more kind people in this world. Those life skills you were taught go a long way in life. My Mom taught me so much and she is no longer here on this earth. I can’t thank her is person anymore but I still remember all the things she taught me. Baking is one of them. She then taught my daughter how to bake. My Mom passed away when my daughter was in high school. When it was time for my daughter to decide about college, she chose to go Culinary school and become a pastry chef because of the baking foundation my Mom, her Grandma, gave her. The affects a Mom, Mother figure, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Aunt, Sister or any special woman has on us, lasts a lifetime. Don’t let Mother’s Day go by without saying “Thank you and I love you!” You don’t have to wait until Mother’s Day to say it. Being a Mom and Grandma myself, anytime I hear kind words, I am grateful. Don’t wait for a holiday or special occasion to let people know how much they mean to you!
